"Delight" in the Junction is hosting my latest exhibit, "Haiti Redux" for this years' Toronto Contact Festival and MAN, does it look good!!! Must say however it was nearly derailed by a 'product malfunction'. At the moment I will not name the culprit because I believe in the good faith of her principles to make things right. So for now, let's move on.
Haiti Redux is a selection of faves from my last 10 years of assignments in Haiti. The images communicate strength, resolve, and beauty...the photos seem to confront the viewer, and mildly suggest that misconceptions of this much maligned land are dead-wrong. For years and years we've felt quite comfortable catagorizing this place as 'pathetic', 'corrupt', 'AIDs ridden', 'godless' etc etc. It's been my mandate to educate the wealthy North Americans with these images, or at least to inspire curiosity. Rome wasn't built in a day after all and age old stigmas are very very hard to overcome. I will be featuring some images from the show over the next few days and talking about what they mean to me...but also, I'll chat about some technical data that might be of interest to one or two of you! In the meantime, enjoy life and stay curious!
